ManGroomer Review & Giveaway

Giveaway Closed!
See this thread for the winning announcement

Ok everyone. It's TIME!

My new blog is barely 4 days old but I'm having a GRAND OPENING GIVEAWAY!

I recently had the opportunity to review some ManGroomer items.
I received:

(1) Professional Do-It-Yourself Electric Back Hair Shaver
(1) Essential Private Body Hair Shaver
(1) Essential Nose and Ear Hair Trimmer

First of all, I spoke directly to the owner of the company through e-mail and let me just say that this guy is awesome. He answered all of my questions and is very professional.

Mangroomer items are amazing! They are solidly built and work very well.
Let's break these three items down one-by-one, shall we?

1st... Essential Private Body Shaver

This item is really cool. You can use it wet OR dry and it charges relatively fast.
The trimmer blades cut really well and cleanly and they even adjust to five different hair lengths.
The adjustable length guard seems like it could have been made a little sturdier as it is just thin plastic but it does the job so really I've got no complaint.
The foil blade side cuts ok. Its not as efficient as, say, a Norelco, but it does the job about same.
Overall Daddy Grade:
A-

2nd... Essential Nose and Ear Hair Trimmer

This item is great! The nose hair trimmer I was using was rechargeable but it died after about two minutes. Now, that would be fine for a 15 year old who has peach fuzz in his nose but for us men who have coarse, MAN hair in there this is the tool to beat all tools. Although not rechargeable, the batteries last quite a while. I've used it three times already and it hasn't seemed to slow down yet. And I've got some tree trunks growing in there, let me tell ya (insert laughter). The blades seem very sharp - trimming the hair down to nothing in no time flat! It does seem to get warm rather quickly, but if you get in and get out it is not a problem.
Overall Daddy Grade:
 A+

3rd... Professional Do-it-Yourself Electric back Hair Shaver

Ok, honestly... I did not have a need for this item. But I did open it up to turn it on and see what it was like (seeing as how I forgot what it was like to turn something on)(again, insert laughter)(geez, where are your senses of humor today?). It is rechargeable and seems to be very well made. It opens to 135 degrees and has a professional 1.5" width for maximum coverage. The handle is extendable and locks to any length by pushing the lock button on the handle. I tested a small spot on my ankle to see how it cut and it cuts GREAT.
Hairy dudes should have no trouble at all getting rid of the forest on their backs with little gadget.
Overall Daddy Grade: A+

You owe it to yourself to try these products out for yourself. You'll be glad you did.

To Manage or Not to Manage...

I've just been asked by a long-time friend of mine to manage a convenience store that he's thinking about leasing. I've got a total of about 8 years experience working in convenience retail but I've never managed a retail store. I've managed a produce department and I believe I did a great job at that (until the disgruntled ex-manager sabotaged me)(go ahead, Dave, laugh. You know who I'm talking about, haha)

Here's my dilemma...

I've just graduated (May '10) from college with my Associates in Applied Science degree in Respiratory Therapy. I worked my ass of to earn my degree and after 11 years I finally earned it. It was one of my proudest achievements aside from marrying my wife and having twin sons... The thing is, I want SO badly to be in my chosen field, but the positions just aren't open right now. I'm currently working at Domino's Pizza as a delivery driver but I only get between 20-30 hours a week and the drivers' pay has just been cut.

Do I bite the bullet and leave Domino's and manage this store for at least a year (it is a commitment type thing) or do I stay at Domino's and make a lot less money and hold out for a position in my field?

I don't know what the pay as manager would be yet but it would be more than I'm currently making. Possibly quite a bit more. The only thing is, I could not leave in 6 months of a position in my field came open. I guess if it paid as much as a RPT position it wouldn't be bad at all. No benefits though.

As manager I'd get to hire a full-time and a part-time employee. I'd work from 6:30am til 3pm or so. I'd do all the ordering and receiving, etc, etc... Wouldn't be a bad job.

I guess I need to talk to him about it some more. I'm leaning towards agreeing to accept the position mainly because my wife and twins deserve more money than I'm bringing in at the moment. Diapers and formula for twins are extremely expensive and we can barely afford to pay our bills right now as it is. Grocery shopping... what's that? I vaguely remember doing something like that in the past.........

So as I wrap up this digital, computerized spew-fest, I leave you with one question... What would YOU do?

New Blog for Men

I'm busting this blog's cherry with an initial post. It seems that there are a lot of websites out there that list items for men. Well, that is all well and good. Except for one thing... most of them completely STINK!!

These sites just push an item, along with a picture of the item, onto their main page "list" because they are getting paid to do so. Who wants to see that crap? Not me!

Honestly, I want to be able to review a product in-hand - fiddle with it, play with it, use it, bite it, bounce it, etc... Then after all of that I want to be able to sit down and write an honest (read: BRUTALLY HONEST) review of said item. I want to be able to have companies send me a sample of what they want advertised, let me use it and then basically spew my opinion about it whether it be good or bad.

I've got another family-friendly blog that I've been doing reviews on for almost a year now and I've been really lucky to have received some very good items. I've written reviews for every one of them and so far, knock on wood, none of the reviews have been negative. Honestly. I've liked everything so far. But the thing is... most of those items not many MEN (say it with me, MMMEEENNN!!!) would not like or be interested in very much. I want to change that.

Instead of getting paid money to post an advertisement (like all the other sites do) I'm going to start contacting companies who make/sell products either FOR men or that men would like as well as women. No item I review will be geared towards women only. That is a promise.

Here are my goals:

#1. NEVER review women-only items
#2. NEVER accept money in return for a review (only a sample product)
#3. NEVER post a review without testing a product personally
#4. ALWAYS be brutally honest when reviewing an item
#5. BECOME the #1 trusted source for us men and our MANLY items
#6. Kick Ass in the process

If you ever see me waiver from any of these goals/rules, please feel free to send me a nasty e-mail to get me back on track.

If you have any questions or concerns or if you want to read a review of a specific item, please e-mail me as well and I'll do my best to get a sample and review if for you.

Until later...

Daddy Likey
